edible bliss... x

On a recent trip to the flower markets with some of my students we went exploring over in the fruit and vege market looking for inspiration strolling through the vast array of herbaceous delights we discovered these tiny little boxes filled to the brim of the sweetest edible blooms.  The colours of each of these tiny blooms beamed out at me and with such delight that we couldn't pass them by. We bought a few little boxes and took them back to class with us to create the most gorgeous little flower garlands, reminiscent of garlands used for weddings in India.

These marigolds are the colour of india. Even in the poorest of villages somehow you always come across baskets of flower blooms, it is amazing how the touch of a fragrance and colour can transport us instantly back to wonderful memories.

The best thing about these little beauties are that they are totally organic and can be added to desserts and salads to add that little touch of something more...

The Harvest and the Joy..

What a beautiful sight it was recently to turn up at school to pick up my son to find the summer harvest from the schools gardening club.
Kaye, one of the beautiful mums who is always happy to lend a helping hand spent the afternoon selling off the goodies that the kids had grown.
Each week they meet to tend to the crops, weeding and plantings. They are getting ready for the Autumn/ Winter plantings now.

Seeing this at the end of my day absolutely bought a smile to my face and made my heart swell with joy. It really is the simple things that leave the soul feeling nourished and content.

Thanks Kylie and Kaye and all the kids that contribute to such a beautiful part of our school community.
